Partying With Playstation

Last night a friend and I headed out to Toronto to attend Sony’s Playstation Party to play some of the upcoming titles/devices Sony has to Offer. The first of many things we tried was the PSvita. After a bullshit half an hour line, I finally hand my hands on this device and was very impressed. It feels very light compared to my PSP fat (1000) and the screen is just gorgeous to lay your eyes on. The demo was Little Big Planet, even though I would have rather played something like Uncharted. Never the less, I still had fun messing around in the demo level. The game fully incorporates the front touch and rear touch, that’s what she said. Which worked better than I had anticipated. The display is huge on this bitch and looks very good and bright. Though I wonder what kind of battery life they will be able to pull off with this kind of powerful set up. After my demo, they gentleman strapped to the machine said “lets play another game.” It was a two player game where you lay the Vita on its side and we played an air hockey type game, which was cool, but not what I’m into. I was handed a sticker that said “I touched it” from a very attractive lady and moved on. The next game I got my hands on was Uncharted 3. Now, we have all played the online beta. This was the single player demo son. You could choose between two demo levels, a Chateau level and a Cargo Plane level. Waiting in line you could see which one you wanted to pick, way in advance. I picked the Chateau level, where as Nathan you run around with Sully trying to escape this mansion that is being torched to the fucking ground by some mercenary type baddies. The lightning and fire effects were incredible. If you have ever played Uncharted 2 you know how good these games looks, Uncharted 3 definitely tops that and some. Stunning graphics and fire fights, with the classic platforming going on all around the mansion. The close quarter combat was steeped up a bit to, with more actions/animations and of course quick time events are involved, but it pays off when punching someones face into the ground. The only gripe I had with the demo itself was the sensitivity of the analog stick, I had mine jacked almost to the max and it was still not responsive as I would have wanted it to be. After that we ventured off to the Konami section to play us some Peace Walker HD. This was the demo from the Tokyo game show. There were tons of levels to select and same to say for Snakes outfitting and arsenal. That game is going to be something else when it comes out, I love it! The 60 fps fucking makes all the difference in the world. You can easily sink 100+ hours into this game no problem, and with 4 player co-op online even more fun to be had here kiddies. While my buddy was playing the demo I had a chance to speak to the Konami rep. So I straight up asked him “what’s going on with Rising man?” He told me that they haven’t forgotten about it at all, and that it would be coming out in the near future. They basically wanted to get the HD Collection all set for its launch in November. He could have just been drunk and talking shit, I have no idea, it just made me smile to finally hear something on that subject. The last game I got my paws on was Silent Hill Downpour. The game didn’t look that good to be honest. I love Silent Hill games so I was hella disappointed in this one. The game just ran like pure ass, straight up. It would barely hold at a solid 30 fps and there were clippings all over the place. By the time I got anywhere in the demo it was time to leave, I didn’t even get to see a single monster! WTF! Anyways we headed out and I was pretty happy with what I got to play in the end. Other games shown there was Twisted Metal, Journey, Street Fighter X Tekken, Marvel vs Capcom 3 Ultimate and a bunch of move garbage as to be expected. That’s enough for now, Wesker signing off! Peace.

GT5 Spec 2 Update

Most people hated on GT5 at launch, I was not one of those people. I love me some hardcore racing sims. Yes the game had tons of issues to be worked out and some of the promises of the franchise were not met, but Polyphony has supported this title with many free updates enhancing the experience. Almost bi-weekly the game is updated with a new seasonal event and most if not all the online mechanics have been tweeked for better online racing experience through these patches. So it’s basically like there still working on the game, which isn’t a bad thing right? In the next couple weeks GT5 will see its biggest update ever, Spec 2. The most badass part of this update is that all cars will now have an interior view. This was the biggest fucking piss off to come from the games launch from hardcore GT fans, and Polyphony has clearly recognized that. Announcing 1000+ cars in your game and then shitting on your fans with maybe a good 350 fully modeled was, lets face it, is wack. Though the models will not be fully detailed as some of the other cars, it is still a great addition. The worst case I can assume is that some of the cars interiors you might get an inside model like something in GT Portable, a black outline basically. I’m Hoping that’s not case though. You will also get an update to the Nascars in the game, the 2011 season cars will be added to the roster. Though I could give two shits about that personally. The menus speed and load times will be cut down, which is well needed still. The arcade mode will feature adjustable opponent AI for a more custom experience for messing around on your own. Racers will be able to save their progress in a race at anytime and return to that previous state, which is sick for those long race like endurances. Weather conditions can now also be fully adjusted with a slider from mild to severe for that extra hardcore touch.  If you enjoy taking snaps of your whips, you can now add your driver avatar in the mix with all the gear you have unlocked like helmets and suits. Playing online will offer more bonuses to people who log in and play on a regular basis. GT5 has also added the support of more Racing wheels, the Logitech G25 and G27 are added to spec 2. They also have announced a gang load of DLC to come, that being cars and tracks. No one knows at this time if there will be any fees involved with those downloads. All in all this is quite the upgrade to a very excellent racing simulation, and now for a low price of 39.99 you can’t beat that gearheads… Well maybe until Forza 4 drops. I’ll keep you guys posted on that soon!
